Our Store
Our food bank store, located at 219 S. 3rd St. W., is our primary way of distributing food.
Based on a "client choice model", our food bank store emulates the design and feel of a typical grocery store shopping experience. Clients are greeted by food bank volunteers and staff with the same courtesy and respect as if they were paying customers. Clients are asked to fill out a brief information sheet that tells us about housing, income, and other background information. There are no right or wrong answers, and clients are not disqualified because of their responses. All client information is kept strictly confidential.
Simply coming through our door is a statement of need, and we will work hard to meet that need.
After the information sheet has been completed and clients have been offered information about services such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), health care options, the Low Income Energy Assistance Program and child care programs, they are given a shopping cart and grocery list to guide them through our shelves. Once clients have made their choices, the food is bagged by volunteers, and they are all set!
Clients may shop from our entire store once per month and can expect to receive groceries that equate to a 3 to 4 day supply of food. Click Here for more information about how to use our store.
Even though we recognize visiting a food bank can be disconcerting no matter how inviting the environment, our model of service is such that we welcome anyone to our store who needs us. With open minds and compassionate hearts, we hope to provide clients a much deserved respite from the challenges that may have necessitated their visit with us.
