ROOTS
Recognizing Other Opportunities To Serve
Jointly with the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, Missoula Food Bank operates a program to provide monthly food commodities to home-bound, low income seniors and WIC program graduates. This program is called Recognizing Other Opportunities to Serve, or ROOTS.
With ROOTS, clients are provided with staples such as peanut butter, cheese, canned vegetables and fruit, meat, fruit juice, cereal or oatmeal, and dry milk. The food, which is provided by the United States Department of Agriculture, arrives from Helena and is unloaded at our warehouse, where it's packed into individual boxes and delivered to homes by dozens of diligent volunteers.
