The Mission We Serve...

At Missoula Food Bank, our mission is to respond to the emergency food needs of the hungry and work to reduce the incidence of hunger and its effects on individuals, families and the community. Each year we distribute more than 250 tons of food - canned goods, fresh produce, bakery items, cereal, baby food, formula and more - to Missoula area residents. That's enough to serve roughly 1,000 households a month.

Our staff and volunteers provide food to those who need it through a variety of programs and services: our free store on Third Street; the ROOTS program serving home-bound, low income seniors; Kids Café providing lunches to children at risk of hunger during school vacations; and our satellite distribution sites at the Frenchtown Fire Department and the Potomac Community Center. Through our Food Circle program, we recover and distribute food prepared by caterers, restaurants and grocery stores, which would otherwise be thrown away.

Please contact us with any questions or suggestions on how we can help to better serve Missoula's hungry.

Our Staff

Along with volunteers, the staff of Missoula Food Bank works to provide food to Missoulians in need. This involves keeping our various food distribution programs up and running, of course. But it also means guaranteeing our financial viability, developing cooperative relationships with other social service agencies, providing information to the public, keeping equipment in good working order, and a host of other tasks.

Between them, our staff members have the talent, the expertise and the combined years of experience to get the job done. Please feel free to contact any staff member, either by telephone at 549-0543, or by e-mail. Just click on the name of the person you want to contact from the following staff list.

Cynthia Lotty: As executive director, Cynthia works with the Board of Directors to establish and oversee the programs, priorities, budgets and policies of the Missoula Food Bank.

Bonnie Buckingham: Bonnie is our program operations manager. She oversees the day-to-day activities and programs of the food bank. She also facilitates the Comunity Food and Agriculture Coalition (CFAC), a food policy council.

Dorey Rowland: As volunteer coordinator, Dorey is responsible for seeing that the food bank is fully staffed with volunteers. She recruits and trains volunteers and works to assure that their experience at the food bank is a positive one.

Dean Thompson: Dean is the Food Circle coordinator. He works with donors, volunteers and recipient agencies to assure that prepared foods are recovered, handled safely and get onto the tables of the people who need them.

Mayo Osawa: Mayo coordinates our ROOTS and Food Share programs, and helps our food bank run smoothly.

Nick Roberts: Nick is the development director for the Food Bank. He works with print, radio and television media to increase awareness and understanding of the food bank's vital mission as well as coordinating all fundraising and food drives.

Bill Fleischman: Bill is the warehouse manager and driver. He makes sure the warehouse is stocked and that food moves from our donors to the shelves of the store.

Patricia Rose: As office assistant, Patricia handles much of the mountain of office work required to keep the food bank going. She also takes a special interest in making sure that personal care items are available for our clients.

Our Board

One specialized group of volunteers at the Food Bank is our Board of Directors. The Board is made up of people from the Missoula community who donate their financial, managerial, legal or other talents to the task of assuring the Food Bank's long term viability and effectiveness.
