SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program – formerly Food Stamps) is an effective and important tool in the fight against hunger in Missoula’s neighborhoods and across Montana.  President Trump’s budget proposes a 25% cut to this vital program, transferring  costs to states with already tenuous budgets.  These cuts would certainly mean a reduction in benefits for families and stricter eligibility standards, increasing barriers to food access for 122,000 Montanans.
